KILLINGTON, Vt. — The Beast of the East is trading triple for quad. Killington Resort said work is already underway to replace the Snowdon Triple with a new fixed-grip quad chairlift manufactured by Doppelmayr, with completion targeted around the start of the 2026–27 winter season.
The June 10, 2026 press release puts the lift project at approximately $7.5 million. Killington describes the swap as part of a long-term strategy to keep a resilient network of fixed-grip lifts across the mountain—lifts that, in New England weather, can mean the difference between a spinning chair and a wind hold.
The Snowdon Quad project rides inside a broader $25 million on-mountain capital plan for summer 2026, part of more than $65 million invested across two years under Killington and Pico Mountain’s independent ownership group. Alongside the lift, Killington is upgrading snowmaking on Conclusion with new pipelines and approximately 23 low-energy HKD snowguns, with active snowmaking expected to return to that Snowdon-area trail for the first time in nearly a decade.
At Pico Mountain, a new rope tow will open the Outpost area for 2026–27 while permitting and procurement continue on a future chairlift in the retired Outpost Double footprint, targeted for 2027–28.
