Thanksgiving at Snowshoe: what’s open and what’s on in 2026

Snowshoe Mountain is aiming to open for the 2026/27 ski season on Wednesday, Nov. 25, the day before Thanksgiving, weather permitting. A Turkey Shoot, a Turkey Trek walk/run and the Village Tree Lighting fill out the holiday weekend.

Is Snowshoe open on Thanksgiving? The plan says yes. The resort’s official schedule lists opening day as Nov. 25, weather permitting. Whether the lifts actually spin depends on cold nights for snowmaking between now and then.

The 2026/27 winter event calendar lists the Turkey Shoot on Nov. 26 and 27, the Turkey Trek on Nov. 27, and the Village Tree Lighting on Nov. 28. Nov. 25 is also the first day of Snowshoe’s value season, through Dec. 17, weather permitting.

Cold windows matter. See our Groomer Notes brief on snowmaking-cold hours. In seven of 16 seasons since 2010, Snowshoe had opened by Thanksgiving Day.
