Pass details
Epic Pass
Vail Resorts’ network. The full Epic Pass is the “ski whenever” product: unlimited, unrestricted days at core mountains including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Park City, Whistler Blackcomb, Heavenly, Stowe, and the Pennsylvania Epic hills. Partner access is usually a set number of days (often 5–7), then 50% off extra tickets.
- Epic Local is the value pick if you can avoid Thanksgiving weekend, Dec 26–31, MLK Saturday, and Presidents’ weekend.
- Ages 13–30 get a standing discount on 2026–27 Epic products.
- Northeast and Mid-Atlantic coverage is strong if you already ski Hunter, Okemo, Mount Snow, or Seven Springs.
Ikon Pass
Alterra’s network. The full Ikon Pass has no holiday blackouts and unlimited access at 18 destinations, with up to seven days at a long list of extras. Ikon Base trades some of that for a lower price and peak-date blackouts. Session is a 2–4 day product if you only want a short destination trip.
- Snowshoe is the Mid-Atlantic Ikon flagship on MTNinfo.
- 2026–27 Base blackouts: Dec 26–30, Jan 16–17, Feb 13–14.
- Bonus mountains (including some smaller East hills) are two-day access and can have blackouts even on the full pass.
Indy Pass
The independent-mountain pass. You get two days at each partner — not unlimited skiing — which is why the price sits far below Epic and Ikon. Indy+ is the flagship: no blackouts, and the 2026–27 adult price dropped to about $399. Base is cheaper and will publish holiday blackouts in fall 2026. Add-on versions exist if you already bought a full season pass at a partner mountain.
- Indy’s global 300+ total includes alpine and Nordic areas worldwide; November 1, 2026 is the 300 Resort Guarantee checkpoint (refund window before December 1 if the count falls short).
- On our map that means 183 North American alpine/both areas (182 standard two-day redemption), plus 33 XC-only Indy partners with discipline filters. One partner—North Cascade Heli—offers discounted heli packages rather than standard two-day lift redemption.
- Fall sales reopened to the waitlist September 1; remaining inventory goes public September 8. Keep the official pass link at indyskipass.com.
Mountain Collective
A short list of destination mountains, not a mega-roster. Two days at each of 27 destinations worldwide — Alta, Snowbird, Jackson Hole, Aspen Snowmass, Big Sky, Revelstoke, Sunday River, Whiteface, and others — then 50% off extra days, with no blackouts. Spring buyers also get a bonus third day at one destination.
- Days are per destination. Aspen Snowmass counts as one destination, not four free mountains.
- There is meaningful overlap with Ikon. Some people pair Collective for the 50% extra-day discount at places they will linger.
- It pays off fast on a five-day destination week because of those half-price extra days.
Snow Pass
New for 2026–27 from Snow Partners (Mountain Creek / Big SNOW). The first roster is 14 partners: Whiteface, Gore, Belleayre, Mountain Creek, Big SNOW, Mount Southington, Oak Mountain, HoliMont, Pleasant Mountain, Ski Butternut, Blue Hills, Ski Martock, plus Monarch and Snow King out west. Two days at each, then 30% off extra tickets. Intro pricing is $339.99 when sales open September 8, 2026.
- Snow Triple Play is a separate, cheaper East-only product if you only want a few days.
- The roster is small on purpose. Treat it as a Northeast sampler, not a national unlimited pass.
- Some partners also sit on Ikon, Indy, or Mountain Collective, so stacking can make sense.
Quick answers
Epic or Ikon?
Match the pass to the mountains you will actually ski. Epic wins for Vail-owned home hills. Ikon wins for Alterra destinations and a no-blackout destination week. If you only ski Mid-Atlantic independents, neither may be the first buy — look at Indy first.
Can I combine passes?
Yes. A common stack is a home-mountain season pass plus Indy or Snow Pass for road trips. Mountain Collective is often added to Ikon when you want extra discounted days at overlapping destination resorts. Two full mega-passes is rarely worth it unless you ski 20+ days across both networks.
When should I buy?
Epic, Ikon, and Mountain Collective are cheapest in the spring sale and rise through fall. Indy often sells in a short spring window and can sell out. Snow Pass is scheduled to go on sale September 8, 2026, and stay available later than the big two.
