NELLYSFORD, Va. — Before the Mid-Atlantic hangs its first snowmaking hose of the season, Wintergreen is selling a different kind of night ride.
The resort’s Spooktacular Haunted Chairlift Rides are on the calendar for four evenings — Thursday, Oct. 29 through Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026 — with haunted descents on the Blue Ridge Express from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Guests ride into spooky scenes staged below the lift, then gather at Checkerberry Cabin for fireside Halloween activities, treats, and drinks. A different family Halloween movie starts at 7:15 p.m. each night: Hotel Transylvania (Oct. 29), The Addams Family (Oct. 30), Happy Halloween Scooby Doo (Oct. 31), and Hocus Pocus (Nov. 1). Costumes are strongly encouraged; warm layers are not optional once the Blue Ridge sun is gone.
